It all started with me making a statement that I had always wanted to go to an OU bowl game, but had never been. Well, that statement turned into me having two tickets to the game. That got me to thinking about the other things I have always wanted to do, but never done. Or even some of the things that I could actually cross off the list. So, here is my so-called "Bucket List". It will definitely change over time, but that's expected. That's what blogs are for.

A lot has been going on. That's a lie. I've just neglected to blog lately. To make up for it though, here is a rundown of what has been going on in my life.

Last week was crazy. It all started on Tuesday night with something called a "downburst" or a "microburst". I don't really know what it was called, but it was not fun. I lost power at the house around 7:30 and just hung out in the dark for the rest of the night. I've never lost power for an extended period of time so I thought I would be ok. I could just play on my phone for a while and then it would be back on and all would be good. Well, all was not good. I didn't charged my phone at work that day and had run the battery down while listening to music at work (I was around 30% battery at this point). So me being the smart person I am, I decided I would charge my phone on my laptop. Well, I quickly realized my laptop wasn't fully charged either. That battery was also around 30%. So, I charged my phone as much as I could and hoped it would last throughout the night. It got up to about 40%. That didn't last long though because people were trying to check on me and all that stuff. I set the alarm on my phone and went to bed.

The next morning, I still didn't have power and my phone was at about 8% battery. I couldn't make it to work. I took a shower by flashlight and packed my blow dyer and flatiron and went to work. Yes, I had to fix my hair and put my make-up on at work. Needless to say, it was not my best hair day. I made it through the work day though. I decided I would go to the gym before coming home. Kandi was an awesome sister and came by the house to check on Boomer and the rest of the house. Still no power. On my way home from the gym, I realized just how bad the storm the night before was. I saw Channel 4 news on the way home. While laying in the hammock for a while (it felt better outside than it did inside), I saw Channel 5's helicopter circling my neighborhood. They were all trying to get footage of the storm damage. They were as close as they were going to get to the downed power poles on 12th & Robinson. I then decided that since the neighbors were working in their yard, maybe I should work in mine. So, I swept the driveway and raked up the leaves in the front yard.

I knew it was going to be hot on Thursday, so I took Boomer to Mom's the spend the night Wednesday night. I think he enjoyed that. So, I get up Wednesday and get ready for work in the dark again. I had washed my hair the night before so I didn't think about it. Well, I have this little swirly thing going on in the back of my head and sometimes the hair likes to stick out. Sam was not too nice when he saw me Thursday morning. He made it known that I was definitely NOT having a good hair day. Oh well, what can you do? Another uneventful day at work and what do I come home to? Still no power. There were only 700 people in Norman left without power and I was one of them. But having dinner with the Kiker's and Mom made the night that much better. Power was finally restored 46 hours later and all is now ok.

So, what did I learn from this? Always be prepared with a charged phone. Either that or get a charger for the car. And be ready for any type of storm. That stuff was scary. I was ready to get in the closet. I also learned that I have some of the BEST friends and family anyone could ask for. I don't know how many offered a bed or an air mattress or a spot on the floor so I wouldn't have to stay at home. I appreciated all of it!!! You guys are AWESOME!!!!!

Good news though...I had a job interview at work for a position in HR. I'm hoping it went OK. I have a second meeting with them in the morning so hopefully they will make a decision soon. Positive thoughts!!!

So, now you know why I've been missing lately. Or you probably didn't even notice...OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-28311522804483619612011-06-11T16:51:00.000-05:002011-06-11T16:51:46.761-05:00A little friendly competition...Starting on Monday (June 13th) I am going to be in a “competition” with Paul and Sam on who can lose the most weight in the next 6 weeks. I use the term “competition” loosely because we there isn’t anything at stake at the end of this. Only the fact that whoever wins will have bragging rights over the other two. We are being fair though and having Tammy weigh us so no one can cheat. Not that any of us would, but you never know. It is going to be fun and interesting at the same time.

I actually started my weight loss around Thanksgiving so I have been working on it a lot longer than the other two. I’ve been running more and working out at the gym the last few weeks, which has been nice because I’m not getting bored doing the same thing everyday. My current goal is to be down at least 20 pounds (I’m currently at 18.2) by June 25th, which is the weekend of the Newman Reunion. That’s only 1.8 pounds in the next two weeks. If I keep up with my workouts I will meet that goal, no problem. I’ll let you know if when I get there. My next goal will be 10-15 more pounds. Then I will be happy. It’s going to be a long road and there might be some detours, but I am going to stick with it and say healthy this time. I don’t need to join Weight Watchers for a 4th time!!

So, for the next few weeks I am going to try and be on my best behavior when it comes to food and working out. This isn’t going to be as hard as it sounds because I know what I need to be doing, I just don’t always make the right decisions.

I’ll keep you updated on the “competition” and let you know how I’m doing compared to the boys. Things might get interesting around here…OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-11074409036093055982011-05-30T19:04:00.000-05:002011-05-30T19:04:26.861-05:00Running and running and running...I'm finally getting back in the habit of working out again. It helps that I have someone at the gym waiting on me. Jessica, a girl from work, has joined the same gym as me and is going to start working out with me. This is going to help me because it will give me a reason to go to the gym instead of making excuses not to go. I also bought a new pair of running shoes over the weekend. Normally, I buy a pair of shoes that I intend to run in but I also use them for everyday shoes. This new pair is only for running though. I will use my other pair for everyday use. So, this means I actually bought shoes that were meant for running. I have never done that before. I used them this morning and could actually tell a difference. They were much lighter and were very comfortable.

So, when I run outside, I usually get about 4 miles in. When I'm on the treadmill at the gym I don't get that much in. This is usually because I become obsessed with watching the numbers that I can't help making myself go faster and then slowing down. I can't keep a steady pace on a treadmill. It's probably a good thing though.

I had planned on running in a 5k with Paris on June 25th, but found out my family reunion is that evening. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because 5k's are usually in the morning, but this one is actually a night run. Oh well, there will be more in the future. I think I am going to run/walk the Memorial half marathon next year. That is my current goal. Who knows, by then things might change. That is what I am working toward right now though. Ok, it's out there for the world to know so I can't back out now.

Until then though, I am going to keep working out and running and hopefully I can get in good enough shape that I can run 4 miles straight without having to stop and walk. It doesn't help though that lately I have been having to run into the wind and up a hill at the same time. Not cool. But maybe that is just helping me get the muscles back in my legs.

Until next time my friends...OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-17363515936419094582011-05-23T19:45:00.001-05:002011-05-23T19:47:00.530-05:00Having fun making stuffI wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know about my new project. I received a set of coasters from a friend a few years back and have used them regularly since then. So, I got the information on how to make them from her and I also did some research on a few crafting blogs and found out how to make my own. So, here I am, making coasters for other people and hopefully they will enjoy theirs as much as I have mine.
The design or theme of the tiles can be customized to fit any occasion or any décor. They also make great gifts. I have included a few pictures to illustrate what I am making and give you a few examples of what I have already made. Email me if you are interested in a set or if you have any questions.
There is a little girl that lives a few houses down from me that has decided I am her new best friend. This little girl likes to ask me random questions…A LOT of random questions.

The first night I met her I’m pretty sure she asked me at least 20 questions. Why are you never home? What’s your name? What’s your middle name? What’s your last name? How old are you? Why is your dog barking? What does he look like? Why is he so fat? What does the inside of your house look like? Do you want me to bring you some miniature pancakes? (Really?!) Are you married? Do you have any kids? Can I come over and help you garden? (as she is holding a miniature shovel that is no longer than 6 inches) Can I water your flowers for you when you aren’t home? And this was just the first night. By the way, her name is Cacee and she didn’t believe me that we had the same name. And she thought it was weird that I couldn’t remember how old I was.

The next night I am sitting there watching TV and someone knocks on my door at 8:45. I grab Boomer so he doesn’t run outside and open the door because I just know it has to be her. 1) I didn’t even have the porch light on; and 2) Who else would it be? Everyone else that comes to my house lets me know they are coming before they come over. Good thing I didn’t have my pajamas on already. When I open the door she looks like she is holding something close to her. She says “You might want to put your dog down.” I just looked at her and asked why. She said because she wanted to show me something and takes her hands away from her body. What do you think she was holding? A gerbil/rat thing! She brought her animal to my house and thought I was going to pet it. I don’t think so. Then once I told her she didn’t need to bring that over anymore, she turned to keep it away from me and tried to reach out and pet Boomer. I had to let her know she wasn’t petting Boomer as long as she had that thing in her hand. I shut the door and went back to watching the game.

So, after I get home and mow the yard on Friday night, I’m trying to catch up on my full DVR and what happens? Someone knocks on the door. Only this time it’s light out and I can see her trying to see in the glass on the front door (the glass you can’t see through). So I pause my show and get up to see what she wants. This time she has a paper and she unrolls it to show me something she has drawn and colored, then proceeds to tell me that her mom doesn’t believe that my name is Kasie and that I can go over and meet her if I want to. If her mom doesn’t believe what my name is, she can come to my house and meet me. I’m not the one walking around the neighborhood knocking on stranger’s doors.

So, needless to say, this girl is crazy. Maybe I’m just that cool that she wants to hang out with me. We will see if this gets any worse if it was just a one-week friendship/stalker. Hopefully she will find a new friend to question…

Until next time…OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-23733546462378065752011-05-15T21:41:00.000-05:002011-05-15T21:41:20.856-05:00It's been a while...I said I was going to get back into writing on this blog...but I haven't. I don't feel like I have anything interesting to write about. This weekend was pretty busy though. Saturday was my cousin Justin's wedding in Walters. It was pretty and I got to see a lot of family that I usually only see once a year. I will get to see them all again in about a month and the family reunion, too. Love seeing great-aunts and uncles and talking to them. They have some good stories and knowledge they can pass on. Justin and Jessica, the newly married couple, had red-velvet cake as the groom's cake. I was in heaven. They also had a chocolate fountain so I was able to get some chocolate covered strawberries (love them). Overall, it was a good time and I hope for nothing but the best for the new couple.

After the wedding, I met up with Candice and Landon and we went to the house of one of their car club friends. I met a lot of people (I don't remember all the names) and had a good time. I'm glad I met up with them because I would have sat at home and done nothing all night. I'm supposed to go to a car show next weekend and hang out with them again. Should be fun.

Sunday has been a normal day for me. My stomach has been unhappy this afternoon though so I'm not feeling too well right now. I did end up taking Boomer over to the dog park for a little bit though. Someone thought it would be a good idea to bring a boxer into the little dog portion. Not cool my friend. So Boomer wanted to meet this dog and they didn't seem to get along. I didn't think this was a good idea, so I just tried to keep Boomer away from the dog until the guy got smart and took the dog to the big dog area (genius).

This week doesn't look to be overly exciting except for Thursday when Cristina and ReRe come over for girls night. I'm cooking for them (!!!). But the fun will be catching up with them since we haven't had a girls night in over a year. There will definitely be a lot of laughs.

I will try to be better about posting even if I don't have much to say. Now that I have finished writing this blog, I've remembered my new "friend" that has graced me with her presence this past week. I will write about her tomorrow. She is quite the character. P.S. Her name is Cacee (and no I didn't make that up).OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-2296190254443995932011-05-04T18:35:00.000-05:002011-05-04T18:35:40.769-05:00Way Back WednesdayHello, my friends. Since deciding to pick this blog thing back up, I have been trying to figure out what I was going to write about. I needed something to help get the writing to flow. And after reading several blogs, I have decided I am going to start “Way back Wednesday’s”. Now, you might be thinking I am going to post some songs from a long time ago, but I’m not. I’m not a big fan of oldies, but I am a fan of older pictures. I like to see how people have changed, or if they have changed. So, I am going to go back to some of my older pictures and blog about it. Just be aware that if I have a picture of you, it is fair game.

So, today is the first “Way Back Wednesday” and what better way to start it off than with a picture of myself. Yes, this is Kandi and me from the 1980s, not Jordyn and Kayla. We were probably around 3 and 6 when this was taken. Don’t you love the green chair? What about my multi-colored color-coordinated outfit with my belly showing? Kandi's outfit isn't much better. I would like to think I still look as cute now as I did back then. I would also like to think my outfits are better looking than that one. You be the judge.
Until next time my friends...OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-62138431704852325462011-04-30T22:25:00.000-05:002011-04-30T22:25:12.261-05:00I don't remember getting paid to be a model...

So, I was going through my craft/gift/catch all stuff tonight and found some stickers that I bought a long time ago. They were probably for one of the projects I thought I would do and never did. I'm sure I bought them thinking I would make something crafty/scrapbooky (is that a word?) and never did. I tend to do that. Anyways, I was going through my stickers looking for some I can use for some coasters I'm going to make for my cousins wedding in two weeks and found some stickers about friends. You know the ones... "best friends this" or "friends do that." They are all cute and I'm sure I had good intentions of using them at some point. Well, needless to say, they are still in the package. Well, there was one package in particular that once I saw it I knew exactly why I bought it. There was a drawing/cartoon of three girls on it and this picture reminds me of just about every picture I have ever taken with Cristina aka Mexican and ReRe aka Black girl. There haven't been any pictures like this lately, but if we were to take one tomorrow, this is what it would look like. The only thing is I don't remember letting some random person use our pictures as inspiration...and I definitely don't remember getting paid for it. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I just think it will be fun to actually have a way to follow what is going on in life. So, here it is.

A lot has changed since I last blogged (2 years ago), but then again so much is the same. I graduated from grad school. I'm still single. I bought a new house. I'm debt free. Have the best friends in the world. Still love the Sooners. Have taken up reading for fun again. Love to spoil my nieces. That's all I can come up with right now.

So, it looks like I need to keep up with this blog thing and maybe, but maybe, I will enjoy it and get something out of it. If you don't like what you are reading here, you can always read one of the funniest blogs around over at ReRe-Ramblings. I love that girl and look forward to her posts.

Until next time my friends...OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-4673420353512806002009-05-03T21:30:00.003-05:002009-05-03T21:34:32.286-05:00Life Update I know it’s been a while since I updated on life. It’s still the same…crazy. I have been busy with school and trying to figure out what is wrong with my throat. I finally went to the gastroenterologist and had an endoscopy done. He told my mom that everything went fine. I don’t really know because I was out of it. I do know that I still feel the same thing I felt before, just not as bad. I have to go back to the doctor on May 11th for a follow-up. Hopefully we will figure something out.

School is still the same. It is keeping me busy. This semester will be over on Thursday and I can’t wait. I will have three weeks off until the summer semester starts. I am taking a class during the month of June that will last 16 nights. Basically we are cramming 16 weeks of class into 16 nights of class. I am going to need a LOT of prayers in June. I will still be working full time as well as driving back and forth from Norman. It should be interesting to say the least.

That's all I got for now. I also like to evaluate what other people are wearing. It's something I have done for as long as I can remember, at least since high school. So the other day I was getting ready for a presentation in my accounting/finance class and was "evaluating" what everyone was wearing. The class was supposed to start at 6:00 p.m. but this kid decides to show up at 5:45 while his group had been working on the slideshow since before 5:30. He walked into the classroom in a shirt with no sleeves and a V-neck. He said he didn't have air-conditioning in his car so he was going to go change. When he came back, he had on a button-up shirt, tie and dress pants. Now you are thinking "What is wrong with that outfit?" Well, he had no belt. That is one fashion mistake that drives me crazy. So in looking at this kid, I got to thinking about some of the other fashion faux-pas that drive me crazy. Here are few. Enjoy (and pray you don't do any of these)!

Shirt tucked in and no belt

How dorky does this look? If you are going to tuck in your shirt, you must wear a belt. Which leads me into number 2.

Black and brown don't mix

You should always make sure that your belt/shoes/coat match. I get onto my sister about this one all the time.

Furry boots and shorts

This is not cute. Either you are cold, or you are hot. It isn't both. What is the point in wearing the boots for winter if you are going to barely cover the rest of your body? I don't get it.

Ok, that's all I can think of right now. Those are the big ones though. Just remember that if you are out in public you are fair game for me to evaluate.
OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-42354832306833978342009-03-30T14:00:00.001-05:002009-03-30T14:00:55.252-05:00Where in the world have I been?
It's been a while since I have updated. I haven't really had time to update anything, including my own calendar. School and work seem to take up most of my time. I did take 2 ½ days of vacation since I was going to lose them anyway. Why not spend the time off working on homework. That sounds like fun doesn't it? Maybe. So, not much has been going on. I am over halfway through my second semester of grad school. It has been a bumpy ride this semester since I am taking more than one class and still working full-time. One of my teachers in crazy and I can't seem to comprehend what is going on in that class, but I still have an A. Thank goodness for participation points. My other class is interesting and I really like it. The discussions get you thinking. It's also something that everyone who has a job has to deal with (Human Resources). I like that class because the professors make it interesting.

I did make time last night to attend the Sweet Sixteen games for the Oklahoma City Regional. That was a lot of fun except for the old people who know nothing about basketball that were sitting around me. I got to sit behind the OU bench and had a blast. After I was able to ignore the stupid comments from the old people and focus on the game, that is. The first game on Sunday night was at 6:30, so Mom and I went up early. I recorded the second half of the men's game and was going to try not to hear the outcome until I got home to watch it. That didn't work out so well. The first thing we see when we walk into the Ford Center is about 8 million TV's with the game being broadcast. If that wasn't enough, the old guy that was sitting in front of us decided to tell me the score as soon as he got to his seat. I tried to tell him that I was recording it and didn't want to know, but he told me anyway. I just decided I was going to know either way and was happy I picked UNC to win.

I guess this is a long enough break from homework and studying.

One question…When did you realize you had become an adult?

I realized I was an adult when I started getting paid like one and didn't have to borrow money from Mom all the time. It was an even bigger realization when I started back to school and still had to work full time. When you have to juggle more than one thing at a time, life seems to sneak up on you.

That's all for now

K
OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-45596113002211554832009-02-16T13:51:00.003-06:002009-02-16T14:01:27.090-06:00Renters Remorse...Have you ever rented a movie only to find out it wasn't what you thought it was going to be? I did that last night. I got home from hanging out with the youth kids from church and really needed to unwind (a few were driving me crazy). I was tired of doing homework and wanted to watch a movie. So, I turned to the OnDemand channel to see some of the new releases. I was going through the movies and saw "My Best Friends Girl" with Dane Cook and Kate Hudson in it. I read on the screen that it was the unedited version but didn't think anything of it. I thought I was going to get a funny movie about some relationships. I was right, but I was also wrong. The movie had no laugh out loud moments for me. And it had a lot of words that I would rather not hear (and I would rather my mother not hear while she is trying to sleep in the next room). So I kept the volume down most of the movie so it would wake her up.

About five minutes into the movie I realized I was probably not going to like the movie, but I had just spent $4.99 on it and I was going to watch it. I ended up watching the whole movie. It was not the best or funniest movie in the world, and it was definitely not worth the $5 I spent on it, but I guess it was OK. I will definitely make sure I know what movie I am purchasing before I purchase it next time. I thought I had heard about this movie before and that it was going to be funnier. I guess I was thinking of another movie.

It did remind me of Hitch though and that is a pretty good movie.

It was nice to be able to watch a movie though and not think about work or school for 2 hours. I will have to do this again. Only next time I will know what movie I am going to buy so I won't have renter's remorse again.

On a good note, I am headed to watch Madagascar 2 with the family later this afternoon. I KNOW that movie will be a good one to watch.

Until next time...OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-90378008143514278642009-01-01T17:09:00.001-06:002009-01-01T17:09:23.451-06:002008…A Year in Review
As everyone knows, I am a huge sports fan. Many people are calling 2008 one of the most memorable years in sports in history. Well, the year 2008 was not as kind to me individually. I had some rough times, but I think they only made me stronger and wiser. Now, don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun this year but I also had some struggles that I would rather move past and start fresh. The year started off pretty good until I was involved in my first wreck that was my fault. I hit a lady on the interstate and jacked up my new car. L I got that fixed and then a few weeks later I was caught speeding and received my second ticket ever (first was due to the wreck). Needless to say I learned that one should not speed and I am the one in the slow lane most of the time now. J Then I decided to punish myself and apply for grad school and start in the fall at the University of Central Oklahoma. I was accepted to the MBA program and began my first semester in August. I knew there was going to be a lot of work involved in the whole process but I didn't know I would be reading entire textbooks in weeks, much less the entire semester. I don't think I have ever finished an entire textbook in a class and we finished two plus read about 45 articles. I met some fun people in my class and I hope I will be able to keep the friendships as we move through the program. I was able to stay focused while also working full time (overtime most of the semester) and make an A in the class. I was pretty proud of that accomplishment. I was so proud of myself that I enrolled in two classes for the spring semester. When I thought the year was almost over and it was going to turn out to be pretty decent, I jacked my car up again. I was headed to work and hit some ice and my car decided that it didn't want to make the turn. I hit the curb and pretty much made my car where it didn't want to go straight anymore. I did more damage this time than in my first wreck. I also found out that when you pay your deductible for auto insurance, it's for each claim. Yes, that means you have to pay your deductible each time you file a claim. Granted, most people don't have more than one claim in a year, but if for some reason you do, be ready to pay again. So, I was without a car for two weeks over Christmas. I also cracked a tooth right before Christmas and had to have crown.

Everything that happened this year was not all bad, but as you can tell, they were events that will make an impression on the year. When I look back on the year, I will remember the wrecks and tickets, but I will also remember that OU went to the National Championship game and that Sam Bradford won the Heisman Trophy over Colt McCoy. I will also remember that my brother-in-law came home safely from a deployment in Iraq. I will also remember my first semester of grad school. I will also remember that precious Kyla was born this year and she is one of the cutest and happiest babies.

I am looking forward to 2009 because I don't think it can be any worse than 2008. I am going to continue my quest of completing my master's as well and continuing to work full time. Hopefully at some point I will not be living with my mother and I will meet someone special. I think I will look at this New Year as a time to make things better for myself. I am going to cherish my friends and spend as much time with them as possible. I am also going to rearrange my bedroom furniture and start the New Year off with a new perspective.

Happy New Year to all. I hope you have as much fun with it as you can.

Boomer Sooner!!! One would think that once you made it to college you would know how to spell the easy words at least. Well, Saturday night at the OU game I was proved wrong. Mickey and I were waiting on the game to start and the Texas Tech team was about to run out on the field. Well, just like every other college football team, the cheerleaders run ahead of the team and carry flags that spell out the team name. For instance, the OU cheerleaders spell SOONERS and the Texas Tech cheerleaders spell TECH. At least they were supposed to spell TECH. As I was watching them run out on the field, I noticed something was wrong and other people were saying it was spelled wrong. I looked at the flags and sure enough, they couldn't even spell a four letter word that I'm sure they see on a daily basis. The flags spelled out TCEH. It's only four letters, how can you mess that up? And in front of 85,646 people? I thought it was funny.

The game was a lot more fun, but that is one of the memorable moments from a memorable night. Well, my sister, Kandi, and I decided to go to Church with my dad before we went to the party. Karen, my step-mom, had told us that Virginia, the new wife, had decided to make a cake for Kandi and me as well since our birthdays are this month. Well, she had to call my dad to see how old we were going to be turning. When we got to their house, Virginia brought out the cake and it read: Happy Birthday Kandi 29 and Kasie 27. Well, that would be all well and good except for the fact that I will be turning 26, not 27. I wasn't going to say anything about it because at least she made the effort and made us a cake. Then Virginia asked if the numbers were right. I told her I ws 26, not 27. She said it was right then. I said, "No, I'm 25 now, I will be 26 on my birthday." So, my Dad decided I was wrong as well. He said, "Isn't that right? She was born in 1979 and you in 1981?" I had to inform him that he didn't even know when his own daughter's birthday was. And instead of no one saying anything, when they brought the cakes out for everyone to eat, Virginia decided to take a spoon and "fix" the cake to kind of say 26. And then one of the daughter's-in-law made the comment that hers was wrong too. She wouldn't be 57 for another two weeks. I informed her that I wouldn't be 27 for another year and 3 weeks. She just looked at me.

So the moral of the story is...If you don't know when your kids birthdays are, you shouldn't tell other people how old they are. It makes them feel like they aren't very important in your life. I mean, I wouldn't expect anything different, but it still hurts. He IS the same Dad that called my sister on the 22nd to wish her a Happy Birthday but she wasn't home so he talked to me for about 2 minutes. There was no mention of my birthday. (Kandi's b-day is 7/21 and mine is 7/23) I just thought he was going to call back on my birthday and wish me a Happy day. Nope. He didn't. It's ok though. No hard feelings. I can forgive, but I don't forget.

Happy Birthday to me!!!!!OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-36342368273364082642008-06-25T21:49:00.003-05:002008-06-25T22:01:13.876-05:00Donut DriversI was driving home today from work and I thought it was going to be just like any other drive home...long and boring. Well, I don't usually pay much attention to what is going on around me, except for the idiots who think they need to stay in one lane as long as possible and squeeze in front of me at the last second. Today started out just like that...there was a car that got in front of me, no bid deal, until I noticed they were driving on a donut. Normally this wouldn't make me laugh, but for some reason today it did. It also made me think about the time that I had to drive back from Lake Texoma on a donut. That wasn't fun.

I got a flat on Saturday morning. That meant there was no driving for me that weekend. Well, when we woke up on Sunday morning and were about to come home, we also noticed that another girl that was with me also had a flat. We were able to put some fix-a-flat in her tire and she was able to drive home. I wasn't so lucky. We had to put my donut on my car and I had to drive no more than 45 mph the whole way home. Let's just say that was not a pleasant experience.

So, for all of you who have ever driven long distances on a donut and actually followed the rules and drove no more than 45, I feel your pain.OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5581203897836575640.post-3540424485010589302008-06-05T21:29:00.003-05:002008-06-05T21:33:01.498-05:00Really?Hello to all...I'm not sure why I am doing this or how often I will post a blog, but we will give it a shot. It will also give me a chance to get to know some of the students in my church youth group.

I look forward to posting my experiences when I get back.OURedheadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15886231073275006200noreply@blogger.com0
